What is Laser Engraving and Resin Infill and Which One to Choose

Laser engraving is the process of using a high powered laser to etch or burn the surface of the wood to leave a darker or a debossed image into the material you are firing the laser into. Laser engraving allows for very high definition of images, logos and text due to its pin point accuracy. Resin infill is another method we use here at Spade with Love to personalise chopping boards, side tables, coffee tables and many persoanlised home décor items. The process we use for resin infill is to actually use the laser engraving process to laser away the wood to leave a void that is deep so that resin can be poured in after. Again we can get great detail on the laser engraving process so this still allows for intricate text and logos that we can then fill with resin. We can resin infill your custom home décor items in a variety of colours and finishes such as metallic, sparkle, pearl finishes in a multitude of colours so the combination of these is vast.

Once we have lasered away the wood we can then mix up the resin and add the colour that you require. We use Craft Resin because of its food safe properties and for the natural bubble release system they use. Once this is poured and set we then sand the wood and resin to a perfectly smooth finish going from 120 grit all the way to 2000 grit on the resin sections. We then add oils or wax or a combination of the 2 to seal and protect the wood and highlight the natural grains in the wood.
